Tuesday night Jordynne Grace, once again, had the wrestling world talking after her surprise visit to NXT. Even more surprising, she will be facing Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT Battleground on June 9th. On top of that there are whispers that this will not be the last time a TNA wrestler is seen on WWE/NXT programming with the reverse also happening. With these supposed crossovers, will WWE's star power propel TNA pass AEW?
Earlier this year, Santino Marella said the last missing ingredient for TNA to rocket to the moon is a major TV network deal. With the possible promise of possible crossovers and essentially the seal of approval from WWE, this could be close to happening. With AEW trying to secure a new TV rights deal, does this a wrench into their negotiations with WBD? Will networks that missed the TV rights for WWE recently step up into negotiations with TNA? Anthem Sports & Entertainment own AXS (TNA's current tv home) and TNA. Selling the TV rights to Impact! would probably put more in the coffers than it is currently airing on AXS. Plus Anthem could still air a second TNA program on AXS if all parties are agreeable.
With the number of current TNA talent with ties to WWE ( AJ Francis, Matt Cardona,Ash by Elegance, Rich Swann, Kushida to just name a few, an invasion angle with Nic Nemeth and Santino at the forefront has the makings of compelling blurring the lines of reality vs. story television. Down the line the true mastermind of this attempted hostile takeover could be revealed as Nick Aldis proclaiming he didn't come to WWE to wear a suit and tie he came to compete. If that meant he needed to takeover NXT than by God that is what he did.
A prolonged working relationship with the world's number 1 wrestling promotion, TNA's projectory would definitely be on the rise while AEW could conceivably fall from the second to the third most popular wrestling promotion.
