Watching The Powers of Matthew Star reminds me how great of an actor Louis Gossett Jr. was. Alot of people may point to Roots, An Officer and a Gentleman, or The Color Purple when talking about his supreme talent. Me? I point to this short lived tv show, Iron Eagle franchise, and Gideon Oliver. 3 entities that could easily be forgotten had it not been for Mr. Gossett Jr.
With his poise, distinctive voice, and just his presence, I can picture him taking over any room that he walked into. If there were only 3 people whose voices I had to listen to his would be there with Morgan Freeman and James Earl Jones. They could have made my college Archeology 101 class interesting. Makes sense since the character of Gideon Oliver is an anthropology professor.
The world definitely lost a supreme talent on March 29th of this year.
