Ricochet here. Ricochet there, Who knew word of Ricochet's impending departure from WWE when his contract expires next month would be what shines the spotlight on him? Not his wrestling repertoire. Not his high diving aerial maneuvers. His emanate departure from the company he has been with for 6 years is. I actually thought he had been there longer.
Now the alleged whispers from behind the curtain are being heard. If you listen closely you can hear them....He's going to AEW....he's going to AEW..... So okay. When someone is released from WWE; folks assume their destination is AEW. Granted. Tony Khan has a big checkbook.....we are talking BIG checkbook.....bigger than Yokozuna at the end of his wrestling career big. That's about it though.
Let's face it. Along with that fat paycheck, there are things you have to tolerate. A back stage area that is alleged to be unprofessional, chaotic, directionless, etc. A booker who doesn't know how to book. A supposed leader who doesn't lead. A group of folks who think they know what they are doing, but really they don't. Other than C M Punk, there is not an ex WWE talent there that Tony has made bigger. If anything, it's as though they are back in the indies performing in front of 600 people in a bingo hall and they mass wrestling audience has no idea who the heck they are. It is the wrestling industry's version of witness protection.
Personally, I believe he should sign with TNA. What? TNA? Their audience is smaller than the place you likened to witness protection!!! Hear me out. Ricochet in TNA means he would instantly be a main eventer. Right off the bat he would be in the mix for the TNA World Championship. Something he could never attain in WWE. Even in AEW, it is highly probable he gets lost on their roster. That's not all....
Can you picture a pissed TNA World Champion heading into the Performance Center during NXT? I sure can. Shoot.. Maybe even out on RAW confronting the World Heavyweight Champion. I just believe there are better championship opportunities in TNA for him. Isn't that why the talent puts their bodies on the line? To be recognized as the BEST in their respective promotion
If we gave Ricochet this much attention for the past 6 years, maybe this isn't even a discussion.
