"What grinds my gears......" Thank you Peter Griffin for this astute opening....
One of the biggest chants live wrestling audiences do ad nauseum INMHO (no Eric Bischoff it isn't "This is awesome....This is awesome....") that gets on my nerves is "You Deserve it....You Deserve It". Why? I shall tell you why dear reader....
Deserve....do they really deserve it? To me deserve implies entitled to. No one is entitled to a championship belt. The talent earned the right, privilege, and responsibility to hold that title.
I realize some folks subscribe to the notion that a belt is a prop. No! It is a symbol of the trust the booker has in you. A talent has earned that trust by showing up on time, performing well in the ring, doing what is asked of them, and doing what they need to hone their craft.
The Patriots didn't deserve to be a dynasty team. They earned that through hard work on and off the field, being coached well, fixing mistakes...basically doing their job better than the other team. Same thing goes along with wrestling talent. They put in the hours, sweat tears, blood, etc to be the best that they can be in their chosen profession. They bust their a$$ day in and day out.
