Class of 1984 tells the story of a new music teacher arriving at an inner city school......so you already know where this is going. Mr. Norris, played by Pery King (Riptide) arrives at his new Music Teacher Position. With his last teaching gig, he is befuddled that another teacher would be packing a gun, students had to walk through metal detectors, security guards patrol the highways.....he is definitely not in 1980's Nebraska anymore.

Mr. Norris, unwittingly, makes himself the target of the gang that "runs the school" when he kicks them out of his music class....including their leader Stegman played by Timothy Van Patten (The Master). A game of wits ensues between Norris and the gang until the gang does the unthinkable and assaults his pregnant wife. Now Norris is willing to do whatever he needs to make Stegman and his cronies pay.

Perry King, as Mr. Norris, plays the naïve, I know I can reach them teacher with well. He may be book smart, but street smart this teacher isn't.

I wouldn't have Timothy Van Patten as my number draft pick for a tough guy. Just watch The Master and see how many times he gets thrown through a window in 13 episodes. He does a nice job though of highlighting Stegman's psychotic personality. He may not be the biggest in the room, but he is the most off balance.

If I were to give the movie a grade, I would say C minus. You should watch it anyway to see a pre Family Ties Michael J Fox.
