Drew's Done

After the outcome at Clash at the Castle on Saturday, Drew McIntyre opened Raw on Monday night. What many thought was going to be a scathing promo on C M Punk, turned into Drew saying that he couldn't do this anymore and that he was quitting WWE.

Can you really blame him? He wins the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL only to have C M Punk give an assist to the Money in the Bank contract holder Damien Priest in defeating Drew for the title right after he claimed it from the previous champ Seth Rollins. A few months later, Drew is able to work himself into a one on one title match with no Judgement Day at ringside. Finally a fair shot at the title with no chance of outside interference in his home country unlike last year when Solo Sikoa made his Bloodline debut in assisting Roman Reigns to hold on to the Undisputed Championship. Unfortunately, that would not be the case.

The referee is knocked off the ring and is incapacitated on the floor. Drew hits the Claymore and pins Damien. The crowd counts 1,2,3,4,5, but no ref. A ref form the back comes to the ring..1,2 and doesn't make the three count. C M Punk somehow was able to procure a referee shirt, run to the ring, and once again screw Drew. A south of Heaven from Damien to Drew and a 3 count and Drew's opportunity once again ends in disappointment.

If the man who carried the company through the pandemic era, entertaining crowds that weren't physically present but on LED screens, can't get a fair shot at becoming the World Heavyweight Champion, maybe he should take his talent elsewhere. How would it look for Adam Pearce if Drew were to appear in TNA and assist them against NXT? MJF vs Drew in AEW anybody? or maybe....

.Friday night when SmackDown is in Chicago, C M Punk is expected to be there with an update on his in ring return. Maybe Drew shows up after signing a SmackDown contract and obliterates Punk in the ring in front of his home crowd. A little tit for tat.... or this is all a well-orchestrated ruse on Drew's part to get into SmackDown on Friday to cash in a receipt he owes C M Punk.....
